The Union Trilogy T. P. Bartlett

How Texas joined the Union

Texas was admitted to the Union in 1845.

An independent republic for nine years. The only state that was a country first.

What Texas gets wrong about itself

Asked how many people in the other party support political violence, Texas residents put the figure at 53.8%. Asked the same people whether they themselves support it, the answer comes back at 21.4%. The distance between what is believed and what is true is 32.4 points, across 12,544 respondents in Texas.

The trilogy begins where this gap ends: with people who are certain about each other and wrong.
